D is for Dino Dig!

You will never guess what happened! While the children were out digging in the flower bed the little paleontologists in training found something amazing! Dinosaur bones! And that is lucky, because we just so happen to be studying about dinosaurs this week!

Okay okay, those may actually be cow bones, and I may have gone out to the flower bed at the crack of dawn while all the kids were still asleep and buried them, but it was exciting all the same!

These bones sure seemed big enough to be dinosaur bones! A few weeks ago I put a plea out to all of my Facebook friends for cleaned dried cow bones. Amazingly enough some one answered! A great friend of the family, Cindy came to the rescue and gave me a box full of these bones.

By examining the teeth of the. . . uh. . . creature, they did determine that it ate plants and not animals.

When they had found every last bone CC began to organize them in to groups. She tried to put them together to see if she could get a whole dinosaur but decided she didn't have enough bones. In the end we laid them out in the flower bed as spooky dinosaur Halloween decorations!

I will be sharing some more from our Dinosaur week tomorrow. We have a sensory tub, and games, and so much more!

It is funny to me the things I have been able to get my hands on by sending out a plea on Facebook. What strange things do you have lurking in your garage or closets? I bet we could come up with some good ideas!

  1. That is so awesome! My girls would have "had a cow";-). Seriously, though, I can't think of anything more exciting than that to find in your garden.

I know! It's so funny. A couple of months ago I said that I needed a stack of old golf balls and like three people wrote to say they had some for me. FB is my knew favorite resource!
